The Faerie Workshops are a creative series exploring the magic, mythology and quiet wonder of the faerie world. Designed to encourage imagination, making and storytelling, each workshop offers a different way to engage — from gentle beginnings through to more intricate faerie creations.
This second chapter in our Away with the Faeries series is designed especially for adults and more advanced young makers — those who love slow, thoughtful making.
Over a relaxed two consecutive days, participants will learn how to transform a simple bottle into a beautifully crafted faerie house, together with accompanying accessories, using reclaimed materials and clay. The bottle becomes the hidden structure — patiently clad and shaped as windows and doors are thoughtfully placed, and the roof is built layer by layer.
Foraged twigs and leaves gathered from The Woods property are incorporated into each piece, grounding the work in place and season, and adding a distinctly natural, textural quality to every dwelling.
Using a bottle also creates the ability to illuminate it from the inside, allowing for an even more atmospheric outcome. Lighting, door and window frames, and all the foraged elements are provided as part of the experience.
Once construction is complete time is then spent in a gentle creative flow — crafting miniature table settings, food elements and small details that bring each faerie house to life.
Because clay requires time to air-dry, this workshop unfolds across Saturday and Sunday, allowing the making process to breathe.
Day One focuses on construction and form; Day Two brings refinement, finishing touches and a deeper exploration of character and story.
This is a hands-on, immersive workshop that celebrates reuse, imagination and the quiet pleasure of working with your hands.
